Hermannsburg Happenings

2015-09-02 06:00

EMBARRASSINGLY, gremlins struck once more last week, and we tender our sincere apologies for the error - the Hermannsburg choristers who went to Poland with the KwaZulu-Natal Youth Choir were seven in number, and they were in fact Monika Lucht, Stephan Küsel, Laura Zick, Danielle Schweiger, Rupert Meyer, Meike Meyer and Rhonda Christiansen.

In sports news, we participated in the quadrangular athletics meeting in Greytown and our athletes produced pleasing results. Imke Marx was first in javelin and Lydia Köhne in hurdles, and a good number of second places were achieved. Domino Service School was the overall winner, followed by Greytown High School, Wartburg, Hermannsburg and Wembley College.

The primary school boys played hockey against Wartburg at Hermannsburg, the U13 boys won 2-0 and the U10 boys lost 2-3 as Wartburg scored a goal in the last 30 seconds of the game. The U11 tournament at New Hanover was stopped due to lightning, but the boys drew 0-0 against both Wembley College and Hew Hanover, and won against both Wartburg (2-1) and Maritzburg Christian School (2-1). The Grade 1 hockey boys played against Wartburg (0-0, with Hermannsburg spending a lot of time in their half) and Wembley (1-1, with Yaseen Bagus scoring for Hermannsburg).

The preparations for A Midsummer Night’s Dream are gathering momentum, with practice every day. We look forward to the performances at the end of the term (23 and 24 September), and to the HMB Golf Day scheduled for 25 and 26 September
