OUR Grade 10 pupils are safely back on South African soil after four activity-filled weeks in Germany.

While some are already planning how they can get back to Germany to visit their new friends once more, we are sure they and their families are happy to see each other again and to spend time together telling of all they saw and experienced.

A big thank you to Mrs Olivier and Mrs Walton for accompanying the group, ensuring that all went smoothly, and for undertaking the huge task of getting all the paperwork done.

A big thank you also goes to Tuta Carriers, PG Mavundla and McCormick for sponsoring the group’s “hoodies”, shirts and caps respectively.

In sports news, the 7s rugby sides played their last matches of the season on the first Saturday of our holidays. Both teams played against Wembley College, the U16 team ending 29-36 and the Open team 5-42.

During the course of the season, injuries took their toll, but despite this, the teams ended fourth in their respective league logs after spending some time in the second-place slot. We congratulate them on a successful first season of 7s rugby.

We trust our school family are enjoying the holidays and are keeping warm as we look forward to the national enviro quiz (31 July), science expo (30-31 July), inter-house athletics (8 August) and other athletics fixtures, the production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (23-25 September), the Old Scholars’ Gala Dinner (25 September), and our HMB Golf Day (25-26 September)
