THE KZN agricultural union, Kwanalu and SARS recently held a workshop for farmers to address issues they have recently had regarding compliance to the agriculture diesel rebate system. The meeting was well attended by over 220 farmers from all over KZN. Senior representatives from the SARS legal and auditing departments gave a detail- ed presentation on how farmers in particular, can legally and effectively claim rebates on diesel used in specific farming practices.

“It was positive to see so many farmers in attendance, showing their willingness to comply with the somewhat difficult terms and conditions for agricultural diesel rebates,” said Kwanalu CEO, Sandy La Marque.

During the workshop Kwanalu members gave input into the functionality of the diesel rebate system - for example how to record diesel usage in a logbook. Kwanalu undertook to provide comments into the proposed review of the diesel rebate as mooted in Parliament recently. - Urban House Media.
