Late municipal accounts

2015-07-22 06:00

Sir, THE Greytown Gazette is the eyes and ears of us Greytown residents. I’m a ratepayer and willing to pay for services. However, I am writing to you to express my views and those of my neighbour.

Our concern is the late arrival of our monthly statement from the Municipality. We received our statement on 10 July, but it was dated 2 July. The due date of this account was 13 July.

When we phoned the Municipality to find out why the accounts were so late, the female we spoke to blamed the post office saying that if we can’t pay on that day the Municipality will disconnect the service. This lady was cheeky and should bear in mind that we pay her salary at inquiries.

My question is, who is supposed to phone the post office and secondly, before solving this problem the Municipality must give us two weeks notice before disconnecting our electricity.
