IT was an extremely rewarding finale to the season with the Mascor Umvoti polocrosse team taking the B Division by the scruff of the neck to clinch the 2015 club champs title in Richmond last weekend.

Playing way above their pay grades, the young Minnaar sisters, Jacquie and Camryn Minnaar, teamed up with veteran player Patrick Oand#039;Sullivan and more than held themselves to keep the pressure on their opponents to allow the other section of Mark Scott, Alice Gilmore and stalwart Caroline Minnaar to slowly strangle the opposition into submission. In each of the games there was more than a and#034;bleatand#034; from the poor disgruntled opposition which augers well for the youngsters in this team. Another positive aspect of these victories was probably the fact that this Mascor Umvoti team was well mounted.

The team are very grateful to their sponsors, Mascor, which have loyally stood by them all these years, and it was fitting that the team were awarded the Mascor SA championship trophy at prize giving.

Unfortunately, this was the last major tournament for the season, which has been a very rewarding one for the club, which still does not have official premises on which to play since being ousted by Umvoti Municipality from the popular venue at Lake Merthley
