Poetic parrying on bowls greens

2015-08-12 06:00

A COUPLE of weeks ago Bryan Paul wrote his weekly and#034;From the Ditchand#034; in rhyme, this inspired a fellow poet, Rudi Rabe to reply:

I perceive a feeling that I am the one addressed

By your ‘rhyme’ in the local paper no less

My appetite has been thoroughly whetted

To join you on the greens for a game of bowls as gazetted.

Lots of laughter, lolly, drinks, foods and flat shoes

On Sunday 2nd August on the nose

Should you accept my humble entry

Iand#039;ll await your hosting with gusto aplenty

If I qualify as an entrant

Will you enlighten me on time to report

And the size of remuneration for the dayand#039;s sport

I plan to behave better than before, truly

Without bias or a promise, Rudi
