IT looked like an overgrown pothole when it was fortunately spotted by an alert motorist in the early hours of last Thursday.

As seen in the photograph there is a lot of water down there which is thought to have, over the years, triggered off the sinkhole.

Greytown RTI are monitoring and policing the road which is closed from the sinkhole to the Dundee turn-off on the Greytown road.

Motorists are urged to drive slowly along the old Dundee road, which is in fairly good condition.
