TEAM South Africa retained its world number-one status by outplaying Zambia in the finals of the 2015 World Cup last weekend in Shongweni.

This was an extra sweet victory for South Africa as it had lost to Zambia in the opening games two weeks ago. South Africa keeps its status as the worldand#039;s number one team and keeps the World Cup trophy until the next World Cup to be held in Warick, Australia in 2019.

Mascor Umvoti’s connections to the WC 2015 campaign were also successful.

Thembi Madonsela received the best female development player award and one of Patrick Oand#039;Sullivanand#039;s four horses, and#034;Dancerand#034;, won the best UK ladies horse.

Caroline Minnaarsand#039;s and#034;Colgateand#034; was unfortunate to not be awarded a prize as he played exceptionally well over the two weekends.

Local polocrosse attention now turns to a social Umhlali tournament this weekend, and then the IPT Tournament in Paddock early next month
