St Cathryn’s news

2015-04-30 13:54

THE Tuta Carriers St Cathryn’s Club Championship was played over the weekend. Members from Empangeni, Pietermaritzburg, Durban and Port Shepstone joined the locals in this annual golfing event.

There were a few complaints about the tough rough and the tough errogrostis grass on the new 15th green, with golfers wishing they had spent more time on the driving range.

The golfing gods were with the golfers as the weather over both days was excellent.

At the halfway stage on Saturday night the clubhouse leader, newly married and current St Cathryn’s club captain Paul Els, had an eight-shot lead over Dieter Meyer. Paul lead all the way to Sunday afternoon and only dropped a further two shots on the Sunday morning round. What was more interesting is that Dieter tried to make a charge for it. Athletically build Dieter, with his colourful tactics, could just not catch the stocky Paul, who won the Tuta Carriers St Cathryn’s Club Championship by a whopping 12 shots.
