St Cathryn’s news

2015-07-22 06:00

ST Cathrynand#039;s open space was turned into a and#034;Parc Fermeand#034; for the annual Valley2Valley navigational enduro ride over the weekend. More than 114 bikers set off from St Cathrynand#039;s on Saturday and Sunday following the route on their navigational equipment into the valleys.

The kitchen staff, under the watchful eye of Kevin Williams who was in charge of the massive cooking operation, assisted by his wife Annette, Ernie and Anne.

There was chicken potjie for the Friday night and scrambled eggs for the early Saturday breakfast.

Lunch was a massive burger, the size of a baby ox, and roast beef in red wine for supper with homegrown vegetables from St Cathryn’s.

Sunday started early again with bacon and eggs and lunch was wors rolls before the tired riders set off for home.

Thank you to all who supported the event and to the Valley2Valley committee for letting St Cathrynand#039;s host this event.

On Saturday 25 July we invite golfers to play in the Farmers’ Agric-Care Monthly Mug and the Sanlam Cansa challenge tournament, and even if you are not a member we invite you to play in this very worthy fund-raiser.

We all know someone who has had cancer or who is struggling with cancer, and although you might not be a golfer, come along for a cup of tea and cake where you will be most welcome to leave a donation.

There will be three divisions for men and a ladies division, and a winner from each will play in the regional round of the Cansa challenge on 30 August. Please contact Piet by Friday should you want to play.

On Friday, 24 July, we will be building a burger - please come along and join us for a relaxed evening in front of a log fire where there will be good food and good company.

Phone Piet on 083 269 1661 to book
