St Cathryn’s news

2015-09-23 06:00

WE apologise that last week’s results of the ladies invitational were lost in cyber space and they will be added to this week’s results.

Golf-course staff are hard at work with the preparation for the Hermannsburg Golf Day to be played over Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September.

This popular tournament draws together, pupils, golfers , friends and sponsors, with golf being the main activity of friendship togetherness, not forgetting the German style meal - there is much fun to be had.

This is the 11th year that the Hermannsburg Golf Day has been held at St Cathryn’s, the defending champions. Vic and Ross Droggemoller held the Gary Player trophy high and Vic, partnering with long-time friend Bruce Prentice, is trying to take the trophy back to Dalton.

Vic, a former Hermannsburg pupil in the late seventies, commented jokingly, that he scored more points in last year’s golf day than he got for maths at school.

This past week we welcomed the drizzle on the golf course, but the tough golfers in he Farmers’ Agri-Care Monthly Mug persisted and the Westbrook mayor walked, in fact, stormed off with the mug.

Was it a sign of what was expected later in the day when Japan “suki yakied ” the Bokke to “Sushi” and “Bonzaied” them in England. Have you seen a small Victor Matfield?

Some of the most beautiful ladies in KZN golf visited St Cathryn’s for the first time on Wednesday 9 September for the ladies invitational. The format was 4 Ball Alliance. Ladies captain, Liekie Steyn had secured wonderful prizes for the day, thanks to Pannar, Dulcie from Avon, Vegiworx and Liekie for the prizes and goodies for the day.

Ernie and Ann made delicious eats and everyone enjoyed the time together. Our golf-course staff prepared well and were complimented on their hard work. Ladies usually complain about length …this time they complained about the ladies short Par 5 that they would like to play from the men’s tees, eish, the green keeper was amazed by this request.
