St Cathryn’s news

2015-10-14 06:00

THE Farmers’ Agri-Care Monthly Mug was played over the weekend. A small field competed for the mug and meat voucher with some members doing World Cup rugby supporting in England, others on granny support down in Cape Town, some working and others just relaxing. The course is greening up although the rain has stayed away and with high 30-something temperatures, the course is below par. The greens have somewhat firmed up and are a little harder than normal and the green keeper battled with speed on the greens.

Thank you to all members who made themselves available for playing in this fun series.

Supper will be the chef’s surprise – so give us a ring or wait for the Garden Club SMS. To book for golf and/or meals, phone 083 269 1661.

Results:

1st: Merwin Rabe Nett 67

2nd: Deon van Dyk nett 74

3rd: Brent Barkhuizen nett 77

Captains Putter: Piet Nel … remember injured man.

Nearest to pin: It was a dead draw between Brent and Merwin and in a lucky draw Merwin took the prize.

Sunday morning seven golfers travelled to Darnall for the triangular against Mandeni and Darnall. The hospitality at Darnall was excellent and the teams were well looked after. With “Thrombosis Hill” in the team’s sights, the golfers set off. Darnall was the holder of the trophy which they took at Mandeni, and were out in full force to keep the trophy. The format is individual stableford and the four balls are made up of players from the three clubs. After the rounds of golf, all scores are added up and then the average score per team determines the winning club. Although individual prizes are up for grabs for the best individual scores, the Triangular trophy is the sought-after prize.

Results:

1st: Darnall 36.15 points

2nd: St Cathryn’s 29 points

3rd: Mandeni 26 points.

The trophy then gets handed to the winning team, in this case to Darnall, but then the highlight is that the series winner is determined, and the trophy was handed to St Cathryn’s as the club with the highest points for the year. Well done Team St Cathryn’s.

Results:

1st: St Cathryn’s 36.8 +31.1+ 29 = 96.9 series points

2nd: Darnall 27.3 + 31.6 + 31.15 = 90.5 series points

3rd: Mandeni 27.2 + 29.6 + 26 = 82.8 series points
