SAINT David’s School held its annual inter-house athletics meeting on Friday 11 September when a total of 19 records were broken. Newmarch house won the Slatter­ Memorial Cup by 27 points.

Results:

Victor ludorum: Siyabulela Xulu

Victrix ludorum: Leigh-Anne Boshoff and Thandazile Nxumalo

Junior achiever: Awande Ntshingila

Morgan Cup for Endeavour: Thalente Mbhele

Team Spirit: Slatter

Slatter Memorial Cup: Newmarch

Records were broken by Thalente Mbhele (boys’ U10 400m, 800m, 1200m), Sandisiwe Makhatini (girls’ U10 400m), Nkosinathi Ngubane (boys’ U12 400m), Leigh-Anne Boshoff (girls’ U12 400m, 800m, 1200m), Siyabulela Xulu (boys’ open 400m, 800m, long jump), Buhle Mdunge (girls’ open 400m), Londeka Ndlela (girls’ open 800m, 1200m), Layla Mthimkhulu (girls’ U8 60m sprint), Luxolo Mbhele (boys’ U7 60m sprint), Thandazile Nxumalo (girls’ open 100m, 200m sprint), and Newmarch House (girls’ open 4x100m relay).

The awards were presented by guest of honour, Mrs M. Arntzen, our Grade 4 teacher, who will be leaving at the end of the year after nine years at the school
