To the ratepayers of Umvoti

2015-10-21 06:00

IT was unavoidable that the Umvoti Municipality Electricity Department had to carry out maintenance work last Sunday.

Thanks go to Gerhardt Balzer and his team for the work they do to ensure that we have a reliable electricity system.

Due to this outage, Greytown residents had to go without water on Sunday and Monday due to the pumping stations being unable to operate.

By now, Wednesday, you should all be back to normal, i.e. drought normal.

This outage is a little lesson to people who are still ignoring the water crisis, beware - we are on the lookout for you.

Will residents please report abuse of water and JoJo tanks to the Disaster Management Team or the 911 call centre on 033 417 2911.

If you turn a blind eye to this abuse, you also will suffer by allowing these perpetrators free reign.

We are pleased to report that within the next three weeks we will have connected another four bore holes to the water treatment plant, which will allow for the reduction of draw-off from the lake yet again.

It is a long way from what we need, but every little bit helps.

- Umvoti Water Committee
