ONE of the most respected members of Enhlalakahle and Greytown community died on 15 September and was laid to rest over the weekend.

Mrs Thembekile Augusta Khoza was born on 28 September, 1930. She would have celebrated her 95th birthday next week.

She was the daughter of Lothoyi and Ntombi Liza Mkhize of Ncwadi area, Deepdale. After matriculating from Inanda Seminary she pursued her nursing studies and started working as a midwife at Greytown Hospital in 1958.

Thembekile married a fellow nurse and renowned local jazz trumpeter, Alfred and#034;Makhasiand#034; Khoza, in 1959. Up until the time of her death she was an active member of the Enhlalakahle United Reformed­ Church and an avid vegetable­ gardener.

She leaves three sons, Jabulani Mjevuza, Mbongeleni Justice, Thobani­, one daughter Thembisile Mbidi, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
