Umvoti running out of money

2015-09-02 06:00

Sir, I WOULD like to talk about last weekand#039;s edition regarding the positive possibility that Greytown will run out of money and water.

The management of municipal funds is extremely exploited and misused by council and officials who do not care about the people of Umvoti, they only care about spending funds on unnecessary programmes rather than community programmes. This shows that council is failing to prioritise to improve the lives of Umvoti community members.

A fundamental question is how many consultants have been appointed since 2011 and how much has been spent on these appointments.

The community must also know about contractors appointed since 2011. It appears that the allocation and employment of contractors has often not been governed by tenders, but by nepotism. The Umvoti Municipality has spent an excessive amount on unnecessary projects which have little to do with service delivery to the people of Umvoti. The diversification from the supply chain procedure is indeed a clear indication of the abuse and misuse of ratepayersand#039; money in the most extraordinary manner.

There is a lot happening in council without the knowledge of the Umvoti community which has nothing to do with their mandate of speeding up service delivery for all.
