WARTBURG Kirchdorf School first team hockey girls had an excellent season starting with an overall win in the first term at the Voortrekker Festival. The team followed this up in the second term by winning all the games in their Pool B league as well as games against the following Pool A schools: Voortrekker High, Grace College and St. Henry’s first teams in addition to St Anne’s and GHS second teams. The season ended on a two-stage high, the first stage being an overall win at the regional Spar Tournament, winning against Hermannsburg, Greytown High, Domino Servite and Estcourt High schools. The second stage was a progression to the finals of the Spar Tournament where the hockey team ultimately placed sixth out of 10 schools, all of which had won regional trials in their own right to progress to these finals.

The first team rugby boys started off their season equally well with a pre-season first-term win against Carter High at the WKS Winter Sports Festival. In the second term the boys progressed to win four of their seven scheduled games. The team ended the season with a win ratio of five wins from eight games as follows: wins against Carter High first (back-to-back wins), Alex High first, Grace College first and Treverton College second, but lost to Durban North College first, Weston first and St Henry’s first.

The first hockey and first rugby teams thank their sponsors, Mascor Toyota, for their tremendous support during the season which helped the teams to perform as well as they did.
