Grade 3 Birds of Prey outing on 24 March

ON Tuesday 24 March the Grade 3 pupils travelled to the Birds of Prey Sanctuary in Ashburton.

The children had the opportunity to get “up close and personal” with some raptors. Their favourite bird was the Pearl Spotted Owl. They got the chance to watch the Cape Vultures at feeding time, which was a very noisy affair. Our thanks goes to Mr. Larkan who helped with the transport.

Grade 1 Occupation outing on 18 March

The Grade 1 class went on an outing to Mrs Bown’s physiotherapy practice where they got to experience and see some of the things that a physiotherapist does and knows about the body. We would like to thank Mrs Nel for accompanying us on that particular trip. After small break we then found ourselves on the road to the Bailey’s Peg factory where Mr Allen gave us a detailed tour of the facility. We got to feel raw plastic and see how pegs were made. We would like to thank Mrs Bown and Mr Allen for allowing us to come and visit them. We enjoyed ourselves, as well as the treats, thoroughly.

Summer league hockey

The finals of the Summer league hockey tournament were held on Wednesday 18 March. Some exhilarating hockey was played at the Hannah Pride Astro to bring an end to what has been a fantastic tournament. The Dream Team and the Bullets and Babes were the winners of the A and B leagues respectively. The following additional prizes were awarded: Robyn Steyn (Most Improved Player), Lance Comins (Most Promising Player), Josh Meyer (Player of the Tournament), The Landamp;J (Best spirited team) and Eric Bentley was nominated as the best umpire. We would like to extend our thanks to all those who contributed to making the tournament such a success. Special mention must be made of our scholars who made time in their busy schedules to take part.
