THE Apply Now-Khetha Career Guidance Campaign is a two prong approach aimed at encouraging matric pupils to apply on time for admission to post-school institutions for the following year.

In addition the career guidance component seeks to inform pupils from Grade 9 about career choices available within the post-school education and training sector.

Last week the KZN Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mduduzi Manana, MP, visited Nquthu high schools to talk to Grade 9 to 12 pupils from Klwana High, Scelimfundo Secondary and Msimbi high schools about the 2017 Apply Now-Khetha Career Guidance campaign.

“The roll-out of the campaign targets far-flung and often neglected rural areas, villages and townships to ensure that pupils in those areas make informed career choices.”

He also promoted the “100 occupations in high demand” list which was presented to the principals to advise pupils.

He explained that he is leading a campaign called the Decade of the Artisan running from 2014 until 2024.

The campaign’s significance is at developing about 30 000 artisans by 2030.

Manana alalso spoke to pupils about the National Student Financial Aid Scheme aimed at assisting poor and academically deserving pupils to further their studies in the post-school sector.
