Armed robbery in Greytown

2017-05-03 06:00

WELL-KNOWN Greytonian Chris Fischer is in a serious but stable condition having been shot in an armed robbery in Durban Street last Friday.

Just before 9am, as he came out of the liquor store he was accosted by a gunman and shot three times.

The robber grabbed the cash Chris had and jumped into a silver-grey Golf that was parked nearby with the engine idling. Chris was taken to a local doctor to be stabilised then transported to a Pietermaritzburg hospital where he is responding well.

A spokesperson for Field Security said on receiving the alarm he had chased the robbers, he estimated about four to five in the Golf, which had a foreign number plate in front and no number plate on the back.

Unfortunately, he lost sight of the vehicle in the vicinity of New Hanover.

The police have launched a manhunt for the attackers who will face charges of armed robbery and attempted murder.
