THERE will be lots to do and lots of fun at the Hermannsburg Church Bazaar to be held at the Beehive on Saturday, March 24. This year, the organisers have combined the bazaar with the popular potjiekos contest, along with a 5 km and 10 km fun run in the morning for triple the fun! Visitors can stock up on tasty German food and meat specialities. There will be lots of homemade goodies, as well as arts and crafts for sale, or join in for a cuppa and traditional German cake in the Kaffeestube. Book lovers can spend time browsing through the second-hand book collection; or perhaps find something special at the White Elephant stall. It kicks off with the 10 km fun run at 9 am and the 5 km at 9.30 am (breakfast on sale too). The bazaar itself will open at 11 am with lunch available from noon. The much-in-demand meat sale opens for senior citizens at 12.15 pm and from 12.30 pm for younger customers. Later in the afternoon, join in or have lots of fun watching traditional German games, such as Bierkelchhalten and Hammerschlagen for the adults. There will also be fun games, pony rides and activities for the little ones. Entries for the annual, hotly contested potjiekos competition will be judged at 4 pm and these scrumptious potjies will be on sale from 6 pm – R60 for adults and R30 for under 12. Be there early to purchase you supper tickets — those potjies are very popular!
