Blinkwater Youth Conservation Day

2018-04-04 06:03

IT’S an exciting and interesting project — the Blinkwater Youth Conservation Day on May 26 — when children from disadvantaged backgrounds will be taken on the Blinkwater trails by four experts in different fields of conservation.

Organiser Elsie Stoltz told the Greytown Gazette: “Our goal is to take them out of their surrounds for a day and expose them to the beauty of nature, teach them about conservation and maybe open their minds to careers in the field of conservation, forestry or other related fields.”

This is a preliminary appeal to anyone with children between the ages of 12 and 16 years, who have outgrown their shoes, to donate shoes to this project as most of the children do not have closed shoes.

Please assist in the donation of second-hand closed shoes and socks, takkies, running shoes, sneakers, hats or caps, etc.

This will enable 50 children (per outing) to experience a range of different and exciting experiences.

Any sponsorship would be welcome as the group will be served a meal on the day as well.

Please contact Elise Stoltz at 076 580 8312 or Natasha Stoltz at 072 362 8047 between noon and 2 pm.
