GREYTOWN will be holding its fifth annual Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday 12 November - and this year's event is in honour of Michelle Redinger, who died on 6 October, a week after her 42nd birthday, and after an incredibly brave battle against the disease.

Michelle's positive attitude, her sense of humour despite constant pain and her care for others served as an inspiration to the many, young and old, whose lives she touched.

The event, organised by Greytown's Superbody Club will be held in Greytown Feeding Project Hall, Voortrekker Street.
Organiser, Zeena Ally told the Greytown Gazette that theme for the day is "Get your Pink On".

Pink has become the colour associated internationally with breast cancer. During the morning a Shavathon will take place - this is a fund-raiser for CANSA in which donors can either have their head shaved or "spray painted" in a range of colours (which do wash out).

To put the message across about the importance of regular check-ups there will be talks to create this awareness and advice from cancer survivors to emphasise the importance of early detection and a healthy lifestyle.

Tea, cakes and cup cakes for CANSA will be on sale. For more information, phone Zeena Ally on 081 858 6724.
