MEMBERS of the Umvoti Child Protection Forum held a march in Greytown to raise awareness on the issue of the abuse of women and children.

The march was part of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign that took place from November 25 to December 10.

The secretary of the Umvoti Child Protection Forum, Nyameka Mbhono, said: “The Umvoti Child Protection Forum believes in every child, therefore, through its operations and that of its stakeholders, it seeks to advocate for, protect, care for, and support children through the promotion and protection of their wellbeing.

“In the very same breath, we would like to express our deepest disappointment in the leadership of Umvoti for not showing up on the day of the campaign, let alone the [lack of] respect and professionalism [they showed by not saying] they will not be attending the event for whatever reason.”
