UMVOTI Aids Centre commemorated World Aids Day together with a Christmas party for their children beneficiaries.

More than 1 000 children came from Walneka, Lindelani and informal settlements Townlands, Nhlalakahle, Coloured Village and surroundings to attend the event.

The World Aids Day lighting of candles ceremony went well, and children enjoyed egg races, sack races, jungle gym, trampoline, balloon races, and duck races and even though the jumping castles were deflated by load shedding from noon to 2 pm, the environment was magical. Children enjoyed their nutritious meals and goodie bag which included a toy, chips, juice, and a lollipop.

The centre manager, Sithuthukile Mchunu, said in a statement: “We are grateful for the generosity and kindness of our donors and sponsors, namely Bawaz Furnishers, Brokersure, NTE, RTS, Umvoti Fuel and Oil, Linkseed (Pty) Ltd, Suhayfa Kharodia, Pidelta (Pty) Ltd, Nashua Pietermaritzburg, Department of Correctional Services, Nhlalakahle Taxi Association, Brewpot, Honchos, Pannar, Action Aid, and community members who generously contributed to our cause.” — Supplied.
