SIXTY-SEVEN unemployed Umvoti residents were thrilled to graduate last week with an NQF level three end-user computer skills programme.

This short course, which ran from November 2017-December 2017, was an initiative by the office of the premier and was run by an accredited training provider who offers nationally recognised qualifications. The course is also accredited by the Media Information and Communication Technology (MICT) Seta.

Umvoti mayor Thami Ngubane congratulated the graduates. “We now live in an era that is largely dominated by IT, it is of utmost importance that one is competent in using a computer even for entry level employment in the economic sphere and as such, it was fitting for a programme such as this to be implemented,” said Ngubane. Ngubane encouraged the students to know and understand their mission in life, reaffirming that each and every individual was brought into this world for a purpose, which is much more than mere existence. Uma sisebenza ngokubambisana siyibumba, singayiqhubela phambili imiphakathi yethu (Working together we can improve our communities). — Issued on behalf of the municipality by Siqalokuhle.
