THIS year’s Comrades Marathon is an “up run” on Sunday, 4 June.

The race starts at the Durban City Hall at 5.30 am and cut-off time is 12 hours later at the Scottsville Racecourse in Pietermaritzburg - a distance of approximately 88 kms.

Over the past 92 years, the Comrades has become widely regarded as the world’s premier ultra-marathon and a must-do for every long-distance South African runner.

The spirit of the race has moved and inspired generations of athletes and supporters, and its tales of courage and camaraderie and perseverance are legendary. The route is hilly and tremendously tough. It demands discipline and long-term commitment, and demonstrates the extraordinary power of a determined mindset. Umvoti athletes taking part are wished a good, comfortable, enjoyable and completed Comrades Marathon 2017.
