Councillor allays concerns over the ‘abandoned’ outdoor gym

2019-02-27 06:01

COUNCILLOR of Ward 9, Wilson Khoza, said the long-awaited outdoor gym in Greytown may be up and running in April this year. Khoza made this announcement during a youth meeting held at the Town Hall on February 14 while responding to questions raised by the youth after his presentation.

The facility has not been used for a while after its completion.

The purpose of the meeting was to elect youth who will serve in the youth committee and ward with the chairperson representing the youth at uMvoti Municipality. Khoza said the Lucky Sport Field and the park will also be opened at the end of April.

Among other issues that were tabled for discussion was the recent turmoil at the construction site of the new FET college in Ward 7. A group of residents from another ward allegedly brought the construction to a standstill, demanding that locals be given priority for employment in the construction.

The youth at the meeting also raised concerns about businesses trading without proper documentation in the city. In response, Khoza promised the youth that the municipality will look into the issue and come up with a solution.

The next meeting to elect the members will be announced soon.
