THERE has been a positive response to the newly established DialANurse Home Care agency recently established in Greytown by Michelle Nel and Marlene Puttkamer to provide non-medical home-care services as a comforting alternative to hospitalisation.

A team of well-trained caregivers, including experienced nurses, are on call to provide home care as required by members of the community. The extra support relieves some of the emotional stress for an elderly person and their families and friends.

Knowing at what point you need more help is very important. A benefit of home care is that it is less costly than an old-age home and help and support are given in the privacy and comfort of the home, where the person is still surrounded and supported by family and friends. Experienced and trained caregivers are placed in the home as required, to support the elderly or sick individual and assist with various tasks to help relieve the stress and reduce the risk of injury. Michelle and Marlene monitor the caregivers on a daily basis and also ensure that they undergo continued training to maintain a high level of competency.

DialANurse provides frail care, post hospitalisation care, fall prevention and companionship. These services include help with basic hygiene, bathing, full washes, hair care, nail care, light housekeeping, errand running and transportation services. For more information, e-mail infor@dial-a-nurse.co.za or phone Michelle Nel at 071 395 4635.
