OF all our Hindu festivals, Diwali is the most significant and colourful. Celebrated by Hindus all over the world, it honours the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. Attributed mainly to the return of Lord Rama and Mother Sitha back to Ayodhya after 14 years in exile and defeating the evil Ravana, rows of lamps were lit to welcome them back home.Diwali offers people an opportunity to share. Gifts and sweets are exchanged, prayers are conducted, homes are decorated and an atmosphere of jubilation prevails. The Shri Vishnu Mandir, 107 years in existence, has endeavoured to keep the flag of Hinduism flying high. All the festivals are observed. Tuesday evening Sathsangh was introduced 36 years ago and is still going strong. Over the past four decades, food hampers have been distributed to the needy for Diwali. Our sincere gratitude goes to all business houses, caring individuals and well wishers who made possible 130 hampers this year.It is said that Mother Laxmi visits every home on Diwali day. Our mothers, sisters and daughters, dressed in their finest outfits, ensure that the environment is conducive for Her. The success of all our festivals is mainly attributed to the effort of our womenfolk. Obtain literature for the observance of Diwali from any Sabha official. The year planner for 2018 is also available. On behalf of the officials and members of the Sabha, I wish all a very safe and happy Diwali. Enjoy your festivities and please take care of your pets as well.Jai Shree Raam. - Vee Maharaj, Shri Vishnu Mandir Vidya Pracharni Sabha President.
