Driver’s licence renewal - a pleasure

2017-08-02 06:00

REPORTS of huge delays when renewing one’s driving licence saw my wife and I apprehensively collecting the forms from the Greytown Department of Transport Office last Thursday and walking up a slight incline to the testing office.

After filling in the forms we waited maybe two minutes and then were both invited into the testing sanctum.

My wife went first and had great difficulty with the hand-eye testing machine that was child’s play for any youngster who played games on their cell phone.

Then on to fingerprints and it was unfortunate that a horse had trod on her thumb and the subsequent skin graft had no thumb print.

However, this was overcome promptly and efficiently by the gentleman concerned and I had less problem with the eye tester, but it would appear fingerprints become less clear with age.

Anyhow, we finished in good time, and with feeling, thanked the inspector for his patience and courtesy.

Then back to pay at that little office that must be the smallest in South Africa or even the world when the volume of traffic is considered.

One up for Greytown.
