EMGAGA Primary School celebrating Mother Tongue day on Wednesday 21st February.

This day promotes the speaking of mother tongue languages by learners of the different nations.

At Emgaga the mother tongue is Zulu.

Two Umzinyathi education District officials, Mr TNR Mavundla and Mrs Mavunbdla of the Language and Youth Development section, visited the school to observe the proceedings.

In addressing the learners, Mr Mavundla emphasised the importance of the learners speaking Zulu;the educators were encouraged to include the use of idioms and proverbs in their teaching the language.

Activities performed by the learners during the day included: Intombi ne nsizwa; Izithakazelo; ukuchaza imicimbi yesintu and izitho zenkomo ehlatshiwe.

Traditional food was also served and enjoyed by all, including SGB members who were present during the day.

The School Management team expressed its appreciation to the Department of Education and all the school personnel for the success of the day.
