IT was such an exciting experience for the 190 pupils and 15 teachers from eNtembisweni Primary School who visited the Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) headquarters in Durban last week to learn about safety and security.

The pupils, aged between nine and 13 years old, arrived at the Rusa headquarters in 14 minibus taxis.

Reaction officers briefed the children on safety, kidnappings and crime in general.

Paramedics demonstrated the use of medical equipment and created a mock scene.

The Rusa R44 Robinson helicopter was on display and the pilot told the pupils about aviation safety and they were then allowed onto the helipad to view the aircraft up-close. Several were also taken on helicopter rides over Hazelmere Dam.
