THE first Coddiwomple relay, which took place last weekend, was rated a great success by all those who participated.

Run as a relay, athletes selected from five kilometre, 10km, 15km and 20km distances.

A well marked route allowed race participants to run safely on various farm lands - Holmes, Cleggs, O'Sullivan, Howden, Hill, Odendaal, Chiazzari, Scholtz and Redinger, and many more, thanks to all these farmers.

The fun climax to reach the end was at the change-over, "whooshing" down the Umvoti Tyres Water Slide before sending their teammates off on the next route through the Racefood arch.

Aheers, a co-sponsor, entered six, four-member teams who thoroughly enjoyed the challenge - particularly against each other.

While the adults were running S&ZInflatables made sure the children were well entertained in the Kid Zone, which kept them busy and involved for the morning.

A special treat for runners was Greytown's Moo2u new Chocolate Milk recovery drink, soon to be launched, and much appreciated by the runners at the end of each route.

The organisers and participants agree that this must become an annual event. Without the sponsors, volunteers and suppliers this event would not have been possible - a big thank you to all those involved.
