From the Ditch

WHAT a pairs. In fact, there were seven pairs of bowlers at the start of the nominated pairs.

Clive Edkins and Jack Drew played Erika Fischer and Jacques Minnaar, who roared off with a 28-12 win. Bryan and Pam Paul met the winners of the selected (drawn) pairs, Roy Thomson and Wolfie Lubowiski, who started well, but slumped in the middle, giving Bryan and Pam the chance to go well into the lead, and they pulled off a victory.

Surprise of the day was Tony Smith and Karen Cordy, who narrowly lost to Omo Dinkelmann and Wendy Edwards, who will now meet Wessel Pretorius and Schalk Jacobs, who had drawn a bye.

André Roberts played in the second round of the Niba singles, only to come up against Radley Robertson, who came second in the SA Bowls singles.

Good bowling to all on Wednesday's fun day, sponsored by Plennegy Printing.
