BRACKEN Hackers Sunday Bowls Bash was enjoyed in the winter sunshine by a group of enthusiastic bowlers. This popular day was a festive occasion with music from the clubhouse supplied by Erika Fischer setting the tone for the day.

After tea, a second session was played while the catering team of Karen Cordy, Sannie Balzer, Erika Fischer and Omo Dinkleman prepared a delicious chicken and boerewors braai served with an array of delicious salads. These capable ladies and ever efficient barman, Schalk Jacobz are to be thanked for the seamless way in which they ensure that the hungry and thirsty bowlers’ needs are catered for.

This most successful social day of bowls was made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of Bracken Timbers.

The results of the day were as follows:

“The Spider” (where each bowler has one chance, everyone at the same time, to get nearest the jack). This was won by Lee Pieterse.

First session: Duane Corbishley; Lyle Du Plessis and Natalie Hechter

Second session: Pam Paul; Tish Van Rooyen and Wendy Edkins

Second overall as the tenacious threesome: James De Nysschen; Kevin Williams and Keith Cowie

Winners of the Day: Jack Drew; Mark Thomas and Ruth Drew.

The next social bowls sponsored day is the Plennegy Printing Fun Day to be held on Sunday, August 5.
