THE much anticipated Greytown Primary School family fun day, held on Spring Day, once again was a great success.

At 6.30 am the cooks started preparing the many curries the GPS food stall had on their menu.

Members of the staff and the community collaborated to ensure the meals were of the highest quality and delicious.

It is said that, “many cooks spoil the broth” but in this case it was, “many hands make light work” and, with the bargain prices, the food stall was kept busy throughout the day.

It was really heartening to observe teachers, pupils, and community members working together to set up the stalls and this was done in a happy spirit, no task was too difficult as it was all for a good cause - fundraising.

Winners of the various fundraising initiatives as follows:

Winner — Nomusa Mhlongo (Sheep sponsored by Lens Forestry)

Second prize — Nirvavan Moodley (R3 000 Aheers shopping voucher)

Third prize: Vyan Roopai (R 1000)

GPS Baby Competition

Winner — Taleiya Naidoo

Runner up — Yodash Pillay

Third prize — Miran Moodley

Entertainment was provided throughout the day by pupils of the school.

The Mr and Miss Greytown Primary School pageant added some glitz and glamour to the day with the following pupils in placed positions:

Miss GPS

Queen intermediate phase — Londiwe Shangase

Queen senior phase — Sbongakonce Dlamini

King intermediate phase — Odayan Pillay

King senior phase — Athembile Bekenya

The fish pond, face painting, mendhi and the jumping castles were popular stalls - every little face was seen with a Spiderman or butterfly painting.

To everyone who assisted the school in some way, words are insufficient to express our gratitude but let us say thank you.

To the Greytown community who attended the function in huge numbers, we will see you again next year
