ONE of the most popular fund-raising events in the district is the

annual Umvoti Community G911 bass fishing fund-raiser, organised by the Umvoti Agricultural Society.

The date is Saturday 12

November at Bridgeford dam’s Jondol venue, near Greytown (S29° 6’13.5” E30° 41’42”). Registration from 5am and lines in at 5.30am.

There will be seven dams

available within a nine kilometre radius, 13.5km of dam frontage and 122ha of water to fish.

First prize is R3 500 for the

longest bass. Entrance is R100 for

seniors and R70 for under 12.

This year, for the first time, there will be a swindle entry for an extra R30 and the longest bass bag wins the swindle. Lines up at 3.30pm and the scales will close at 4pm. The competition is open to carp and barbel and there are numerous other prizes, including junior prizes, up for grabs.

A trail run and walk will also take place with a five kilometre and a 10km option. Registration is at 7.30am and start at 8am.
Entry is R30 per person –

all runners and walkers are encouraged to enter.

Arcadia will be selling bacon and egg rolls for breakfast and wors rolls for lunch and the Catholic Church will be selling curry and rice for dinner.
