G911 Bass fishing competition on Saturday

EXCITEMENT is building up for the annual G911 bass fishing competition fund-raiser, organised by the Umvoti Agricultural Society on Saturday, which attracts young and old to throw in their lines.

Registration is from 5am at the Jondol, Bridgeford dam, on the Mispah road near Greytown (S29° 6’13.5” E30° 41’42”).

Lines in will be at 5.30am with seven dams available with a first prize of R4 000 for the longest bass. Entrance is R120 for seniors and R70 for under 12’s. The swindle entry is available for an extra R30, the longest bass bag will win the swindle, for those interested in taking part.

Lines up at 3.30pm and the scales will close at 4pm. The competition is open to carp and barbel and there are numerous other prizes, including junior prizes, up for grabs. Arcadia will be selling bacon and egg rolls for breakfast and wors rolls for lunch, the Catholic Church will be selling curry and rice for dinner.

There will be the Wales vs Springbok rugby game shown in the afternoon.
