THE popular annual G911 bass fishing competition takes place this Saturday 12 November at Jondol Dam in Greytown.
Registration is at 5am with lines in at 5.30am. Entrance is R100 for seniors and R70 for 12 and under.
First prize is R3 500 for the longest bass and to add to the excitement there will be a swindle entry (R30 extra), and numerous other prizes are also up for grabs.

Arcadia and the Catholic Church will be selling food throughout the day.

This year for the first time a trail run and walk has been organised at this event.
There are two distances, a five kilometre and a 10km.
Registration is at 7.30am and start at 8am. Cost is R30 per person.

The Golf 911 Centre was established in 1998 by the farming community as a result of violent attacks on Umvoti community members.

Umvoti G911 Centre is an apolitical, non-profit, voluntary organisation in Greytown serving the community of Umvoti as a whole.

The main function is a liaison between SAPS, Road Traffic Inspectorate, fire department (including Firehawk for fire detection among the farming community), ambulance services, Eskom, Telkom, the municipality, local farmers’ associations, businesses and private security firms.
The public and farming community need only phone or radio the centre for assistance in the case of an emergency or problem and the required services are alerted by G911.

The call centre is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

The centre relies entirely on the community for its funding, so this annual event is organised each year by the Umvoti Agricultural Society to raise funds for this very valuable service that is available to the community whenever assistance and information is required.

Please come along and support – it’s a great family day in the open air. We hope this event will be well supported by our community.
