ON October 3, 1990, East and West Germany were officially reunified after decades of separation that followed the building of the Berlin Wall by Russian armed forces. Since then, the reunification has been celebrated every October wherever German families are found (and there were very many who were separated by the wall). In Hermannsburg, we take the opportunity to celebrate our school’s German heritage. From the kindergarten to the high school, various plays and recitations were performed for the enjoyment of the spectators. The build-up to the day involved various tasks, started in the German lessons, for which a number of pupils were rewarded with prizes. Thanks go to our school’s German Department for organising such a well-run day.
