Greytown Conservancy news

GREYTOWN Conservancy will be holding its annual general meeting at Greytown Country Club on Wednesday, July 18 at 6 pm followed by supper.

Members are urged to attend as there are several matters of importance to discuss, including the adoption of the Seven Oaks Zone as part of the conservancy.

The conservancy’s popular evening Game Count is planned for Friday, August 3.

Members, families and friends are invited to participate.

The normal format will be followed, and the supper gathering will be hosted by members from Umvozana Zone at the Summerford Dam gazebo.

Supper will be provided, but importantly, participants must bring their own folding chairs, plate and eating utensils, and liquid refreshments — hot or cold!

There may well be a little Gluwein available on the night to keep the winter chill at bay!

Hopefully we will have a starry evening and some good counting results.

Members of the community are getting together to set up the Seven Oaks zone as part of the conservancy.

This is an important conservation initiative as it will include the Umvoti Vlei and adjoining areas, which are of huge conservation significance to our district — and beyond.

Prospective Seven Oaks members are urged to participate in the annual Game Count count and join the gathering afterwards.

This is both a rewarding and fun event, and keeps us in touch with our wildlife, and helps us measure the results of our conservation efforts.

Anybody wishing to find out more about the conservancy can contact members of the committee through the Pidelta office on 033 413 2074.
