Greytown Country Club news

ON Sunday 15 November it was our privilege to host the annual KZN Midlands Golf Union Closed Championships. This is a prestigious event that attracted players from all over the Midlands, and was played over 36 holes.

The golfers were quite willing to play in rain without umbrellas or rain gear, as long as it kept raining. As it was, 32 players teed off in perfect golfing weather.

Wally Kohne, our green keeper and his team, did a wonderful job, working from dawn until dusk, preparing what turned out to be a lovely course. It never ceases to amaze one how quickly nature responds to rain. Jabu and her staff plied the golfers with lunch and tea eats.

Our sincere appreciation to our sponsors, in alphabetical order - Bracken Timbers, Davids Midas, Greytown Build it, Mascor John Deere, Pannar and Plennegy.

The eventual champion of 2015 was S. Denning from Boschhoek on 147 and runner-up was B. Zuma (Greytown) 148.

The rest of the results were B division champion - N. McNamara (Howick) 159 and runner-up B. Ngonyama (Greytown) 162. C division champion - S. Muna (Greytown) 78 and runner-up E. Kassier (Greytown) - 70.

Saturday 28 November is our beer festival, which starts at around lunch time and there will be lots of entertainment for adults and children.

The big R2 500 draw and Happy Hour will be combined with the beer festival.

We are planning a family day with a twist that will be enjoyable for young and old. More details to follow - please diarise the date.

Tienie Muller lost out on the money as he was not present at the time of the draw.

The next attendance draw will be on Friday 20 November, with R1 000 up for grabs. Be here from 6.30pm and you could be the lucky.

Dates to diarise

28 November - Family day and beer festival.

5 December - Mascor Monthly Mug.

12 December - Hackers bring and take.
