Greytown Country Club news

THANK you to everybody who entered a team for the quiz night last Friday. We had eight teams with many “know-it-all” spectators who provided lots of entertainment.

The “Doodle bugs” came first with 54 points followed closely by the “A Team” on 52 points. There was three teams that came third on 48 points, two teams that came fourth on 43 points, and last but not least, was the “B Team” on 38 points.
Thank you very much to quizmaster Maggie Hardy for providing and reading the questions.

The second Mascor/NLC Golf Business League match of 2017 was played on Saturday 3 June with seven teams participating - Mascor, CPS, Bracken, Pannar, GTN Development, Plennegy and Kombat.

This league is contested over four Saturdays during the year and consists of teams of three players representing businesses from the Umvoti district.

The Mascor Business League floating trophy is at stake, as well as bragging rights for next year.

The Mascor/NLC Monthly Mug for June was also played at the same time and, as evidenced by the scores, the quicker winter greens clearly got to most players. However, our visitor from St Cathryn’s, Alice Palm, evidently thrived in the conditions and won the B division and the Mug with 66 net. It was delightful to have a lady golfer win our Mug for a change. I think this was last achieved by Colleen Keevy. Second was Andre Scheepers with 68 net. A division: 1st Boy Zuma 70 net o.c.o., second Peter Hardy 70 net. The winning team was Kombat (107).

Next up is the Sanlam Cancer, which will be played on Saturday 24 June. We call on all golfers to enter and support this very worthy cause. The entry list will be on the board at the club.

Midlands squash results:

3rd: GTN 8 - Hilton Village 8

5th: GTN 12 - Howick 2

6th: GTN 6 - Lynwood 10

Well done to GTN third league team who came up against the current log leaders - excellent squash was played.

Karen Taylor lost out on the money as she was not present at the time of the draw. The next attendance draw will be on Friday 9 June with R200 up for grabs. Be here from 6.30pm and you could be the lucky winner.
Dates to diarise

Saturday 24 June – Sanlam Cancer challenge

Wednesday 28 June – Happy Hour
