Greytown Country Club news

2018-10-10 06:01

THE Mascor Monthly Mug was played on October 6. The two putt rule was in place due to the recent hollow tining of our greens.

Some of our development golfers assisted with removing encroaching kikuyu grass from the greens and we are grateful for that.

Greenkeeper Wally is watching the weather forecasts like a hawk to determine when to fertilise the fairways.

Despite the Springboks plucking defeat from the jaws of victory, some of our golfers fortunately did not do the same and good scores came through.

The winner of the Mug and B div was Goodboy Ngubane on 65 net and second was Mzwandile Thusion 66 net oco.

A div first — Dieter Meyer 67 net from Sikhumbusi Buthelezi on 68 net. Thank you to Mascor for sponsoring our Monthly Mug.

October 13 is the Greytown Children’s Home Golf Day and we urge all golfers to support this very worthy cause by entering.

The entry list (four ball alliance) is at the club or phone Flip Botha at 082 650 4525 to enter.

The popular Greytown Golf Classic will be played on November 3 and the entry list will be on the notice board at the Country Club this week.

Please assist greenkeeper Wally in his preparations for the Classic by repairing all your divots on the tee boxes and pitch marks which are starting to show on the greens.

Marianne Brown was not present to collect the R2 000 up for the members attendance draw! This will roll over to R2 100.00 for this Friday — be sure to come in for a chance to win!
