Greytown Country Club news

2019-01-23 06:01

A GOOD field of 21 players played in the Mascor Monthly Mug League on Saturday, January 12.

For a change, the golfers were not complaining that a stiffish breeze was blowing, which made the heat bearable.

The winner of the Mug and A division was our visitor from St Cathryn’s, Dieter Meyer, with 68 nett.

As far as our records show, Meyer is the first St Cathryn’s player to win the Greytown Mug. Well done! The Greytown golfers will have to pull up their socks this year!

Second in A division was Marthinus Steyn on 72 nett. B division first was Marius Muller on 69 nett. He also won the Mug of Mugs of 2018.

Stephen van der Merwe was second, also on 69 nett oco. Captain of Captains of 2018 is Egon Kassier.

We remind our golfers of Jen’s Jug on Sunday, January 27. This is a popular annual golf day which can be entered for at the club.

The Jaco Botha Memorial Golf Day will be played on February 23.

We once again thank Mascor Greytown for sponsoring the Monthly Mug prizes.

All Greytown golfers would like to thank Tienie Muller, who stepped down as captain of our men’s golf section, for three years of enthusiastic and able leadership.

Ian Hill won the members draw on Friday but was not present so it rolls over to this week at R500.
