Greytown Country Club news

2019-06-19 06:00

THE second Mascor Golf Business League match of 2019 was played on June 1 with six teams participating. It was a glorious sunny day with no wind to speak of, perfect for shooting a low round.

The teams were Mascor, Bracken, Kombat, Gtn Development, Rhino Charcoal, and Gtn Umvoti. This league is contested over four Saturdays and consists of teams of three players representing businesses from the Umvoti district. The Mascor Business League floating trophy is at stake, as well as bragging rights for next year.

The Mascor Monthly Mug for June was also played at the same time.

The saying: “A bad workman always blames his tools” certainly did not apply to Lappies Labuschagne, who recently bought a new set of irons and, after a couple of practice rounds, promptly won his first Mug on Saturday with a wonderful score of 64 net. Well done Lappies. Second in B division was Flip Botha with 67 net oco. A division was won by Skhumbusa Buthelezi with 68 net. Second was Boy Zuma 72 net.

The winning team on the day was Greytown Development (102 pts) who beat Bracken (101 pts) by one point. Third was Mascor (100 pts). Captain’s Putter went to MJ Mook. We are very happy that our ladies are starting to play in the mug as well: surely a case of beauties joining the beasts. We thank Mascor Greytown for sponsoring the mug.

Next up is the Davids Midas Development Compo on June 8 and the Sanlam Cancer competition on June 22. We call on all golfers to enter and support this worthy cause. Entry list will be on the board at the club.

DATES TO DIARISE:

June 22 — Sanlam Cancer Challenge

June 28 — Happy Hour.
