Greytown Country Club news

THE third Mascor/NLC Golf Business League match of 2019 was played on Saturday, September 7 with five teams participating. The teams were Mascor, Bracken, Kombat, Greytown Development, and Greytown Umvoti. Bracken was the winning team on the day with 104 pts. Greytown Development came second with 99 pts. Bracken is leading the race, with one more fixture in December.

The September Mascor Monthly Mug was also played simultaneously, and the winner of the A-division and the Mug, despite an additional handicap of a sore foot, was Peter Hardy with 66 net. The September champion claimed the sore foot helped him to focus on his swing. I think this scribe will give the club veranda pillar a good kick before teeing off next time to test his theory. Second was Bheki Mlangeni 70 net. In the B-division, first was Lappies Labuschagne 69 net; second was Steve van der Merwe 71 net oco. The winning St Cathryn’s golfer was Tienie Muller and son Marius won the jackpot. Gareth “Agteros kom ook in die kraal” Larkan brought up the rear and took home the Stoney-last (the prize being a Stoney cool drink), our new name for the Captain’s Putter courtesy of Dieter Meyer. We remind members that the course will be closed for spring treatment from September 25 until October 4. Congratulations to Colin Hooper, who won the Aheers Powertrade sponsored 9@9 on Sunday with 18 points. S. March was not present for the members draw and the prize is now R1 200 this Friday.
