Greytown MTB Festival 2016

2016-04-27 06:00

THE Greytown MTB Festival, hosted by the Greytown MTB Club, is a popular event throughout KZN and with some exciting new additions this year an even larger attendance is expected.

It takes place over the weekend of 7 and 8 May with the Beehive, Greytown, as the base for activities.

ROAG describes the Greytown MTB as "neither the biggest, the toughest or even the most lucrative, but it certainly is the best value for money”. The events cover all ages and abilities. On Saturday and Sunday there is a 10km family MTB fun ride and a three-kilometre fun ride for the littles one. A 10km trail run is also on offer on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

The main MTB events place on Sunday - a 25km ride and a more challenging 50km through spectacular scenery. In addition there two exciting new events on offer - a night ride on Saturday to start at 6pm with teams of three - cycling distance is 1.6km, most laps per team wins. There will be a junior (13 and younger) and senior category.

Second new event - 16km and 30km trail runs taking place at 7.30am and 9am respectively. These trails have been well planned and participants will definitely not be disappointed.

Food will be on sale both days, administered by one of the event's beneficiaries - Greytown Children's Home. Please come and support these family fun day events - enjoy a door in the country and lots of action.
