Greytown MTB fun ride and trail run

2017-05-17 06:03

ALTHOUGH the weekend’s rain was much needed and appreciated throughout the district it did put somewhat of a damper on the Greytown Mountain Bike festival with the numbers of riders taking part in the 50km and 25km classics much less than expected despite good pre-entries.

Obviously the weather has no impact on the younger generation taking part in the three-kilometre and 10km rides - over the two days 230 rode.

There were about 50 runners who took part in the two Fire Tower Descent 16km and 30km runs, the routes had to be shortened slightly due to the weather conditions making it difficult to gain access to some of the roads.

The weekend would not have been a success without the generous sponsors.

A list of thank you’s will be published in next week’s Gazette.
